$19 Billion USD Needed for ACT-Accelerator
Financing the ACT-Accelerator in 2021 costs less than 1% of what governments are spending on stimulus packages
The Access to COVID-19 Tools ACT-Accelerator is a global collaboration to accelerate the development, production, and equitable access to COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccines. It was set up in response to a call from G20 leaders in March 2020 and launched by WHO, European Commission, France, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on 24 April 2020.
The ACT-Accelerator, the global alliance to accelerate development of vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics tools to contain the COVID-19 pandemic released a report today that takes stock of the success achieved, and identifies the funding gap.
To date $14 billion USD have been donated to ACT-Accelerator, and a further funding of $19 billion USD is needed.
