Interview with Eric Tistounet, UN Human Rights Council

Geneva, 14 May 2020 - We spoke with Mr. Eric Tistounet this morning to find out when the UN Human Rights Council will resume its meetings at the Palais des Nations, at the UN Office in Geneva.
We also talked about the digital transformation that has accelerated pace and how the UN Human Rights Council is adopting new technologies, and adapting to these virtual, online/offline hybrid ways of operating, and what are the challenges ahead.
Mr. Tistounet gave us an overview of upcoming meetings, as they had cancelled in March and had to be rescheduled, and how they might, after consulting with the government of Switzerland and UNOG, resume physical presence meetings in June.
Human Rights stakeholders, NGOs, and diplomatic representations based at the UN in Geneva will be pleased to see how the HRC is adapting the delivery of meetings and sessions through Zoom and other platforms, adapting swiftly to the times.
