UN Headquarters, New York

It is a busy week in New York. A workshop on sustainable fisheries, addressing the impacts of bottom fishing on vulnerable marine ecosystems and the long-term sustainability of deep-sea fish stock is taking place. It is organized by the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS), Office of Legal Affairs.

Review of the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty

The Tenth Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons started this week and will end on the 26 of August

I interviewed former Ambassador Marc Finaud, who was France’s top-negotiator at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva for many years, and has recently retired as Head of Arms Proliferation and Head of Diplomatic Tradecraft and is now a Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, and opened his own consultancy.

We discussed the Tenth Review Conference of the Parties on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty and the current threat landscape in view of the hostilities in Ukraine.
