Interview with Jon Henley, European Affairs Correspondent, Paris Bureau Chief, The Guardian
How Twitter and Social Media Can Be Powerful Tools for Journalists and Reporting on the Wildfires in Tasmania in 2013 Were a Dire Warning of What Is Ahead
The UN Brief interviewed Jon Henley, European Affairs Correspondent and Paris Bureau Chief for The Guardian. We spoke about his reportage on the devastating impact of climate change, that he made in 2013 for the launch of the Australian edition of The Guardian, a poignant register of the wildfires that reached a small town in Tasmania, razing houses to the ground and leaping 14 kilometers above water. What drew him to the story?
We also spoke about how he used social media, in particular Twitter, in 2013, to report on the crisis in Greece, to tell the stories on the people behind the numbers and charts.
