U.S. Secretary of State Nominee is a Well-Rounded Public Servant
U. S. President-elect Biden nominated an experienced former Obama administration official, Antony Blinken, for the post of US Secretary of State.
Who is Antony Blinken?
For starters he spent 6 years in the Senate as an aide to President-elect Joe Biden, in charge of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He has a deep understanding of the policy making process. Of note as well is the fact that he spent part of his early years in France, and is fluent in the language.
He attended Harvard University and then Columbia Law School, cultivating friendships that became key professional relations later, at the Department of State. Among them the former US Ambassador to the European Union, Anthony Gardner. Blinken’s family has a history of public service, two relatives are currently also nominated to represent the US abroad, one to be the US Ambassador to Belgium, and the other to be US Ambassador to Hungary.
