How Much Progress Has the Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent Made on Advancing the Implementation of the Durban Declaration?
The week ahead is a slow stroll on a cobbled street, as everyone in Europe is off to a well deserved vacation. Europe is closed for business. New York does not stop, but Geneva takes a break. Sort of. If some UN agencies are not organizing public-facing events in August they are busy preparing conferences, seminars, and reports that will be launched in the Fall.

At first glance you would think that this is the first time that the issue was discussed at the UN. But this coming September we mark 20 years since the Durban Declaration was adopted. In 2001 the World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, took place in Durban, South Africa. The issues addressed were:
