WHO: Vaccines for Healthcare Workers in the Global South Critical to Managing Spread of VoC of COVID-19
WHO called for a “moratorium” on booster shoots till end of September so healthcare workers, older people, and at risk populations can get their first two shoots.
Dr. Tedros also stressed that the G20 has a vital leadership role to play, as the biggest donor of Covid 19 vaccines.
WHO: No booster shots till healthcare and frontline workers are vaccinated in the Global South please.
It was asked that greater global solidarity be shown by high-income countries for “unless we get the populations in low-income countries vaccinated we will not have the global public health impact that we need”, stated Dr. Bruce Aylward, Senior Advisor to WHO Director-General.
Dr. Tedros:
“ It is not an understatement to say that the course of the pandemic depends on the leadership of G20 countries.”
