Geneva, 7 October 2020 — The UN Brief interviewed the CEO of NearForm, Cian O’Maidin, the Irish technology company behind the COVID19 contact tracing app that was launched by the government of Ireland in July, and now is rolling-out in the US. The COVID Alert app actually saw swift adoption rates, on both sides of the pond.
New York and New Jersey launched last week, creating a corridor of interoperability with Pennsylvania and Delaware, as they link with apps for those two states, also built by NearForm.
As of the 6 October, NearForm’s COVID Alert NY saw 440.000 downloads in New York, according to public health authorities’ latest figures.
NearForm also built the apps for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, and soon Jersey, the largest of the English channel islands.
