International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law Being Violated by Both Parties Stated Volker Turk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Updates as of this morning by UN humanitarian agencies’ spokespersons from OCHA, UNRWA, UNICEF, OHCHR, and WHO on the escalating of hostilities in the Middle East.
Watch their statements calling for a cessation of hostilities, and updated figures on strikes on civilians and UNRWA structures being targeted by the Israeli offensive in Gaza - as well as the attacks by Hamas in Israeli territory.
Volker Turk also called attention to the increase of anti-semitism and islamophobia on social media platforms, and reiterated the need to allow humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and food, to the Gaza Strip. Having supplies and energy cut-off in Gaza by Israel is a violation of international human rights law, as are the incursions by Hamas in the State of Israel killing and abducting civilians.
