World Health Organization

The World Health Organisation, together with the African Development Bank, the European Investment Bank, the International Development Bank and other multilateral institutions launched a new investment platform to strengthen primary health care services in low and middle income countries. Goal: $1.6 billion in funding for take-off.

Treaty of the High-Seas

UN Treaty for Protection of Biodiversity and Marine Life Adopted

This past week was full of reasons to celebrate multilateralism. WHO gets a new funding platform underway and the UN Treaty of the High-Seas is adopted by the Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ). I interviewed Mr. Vladimir Jares, Director of the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) at the UN Headquarters in New York, to speak about this historic moment.
