The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was in Geneva today to open the UN Trade and Development agency 60th Anniversary celebrations with its Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan and meet with ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin.
Ms. Grynspan spoke eloquently on the role of governments in setting industrial policy for economic growth. The UN Secretary-General was speaking at the Global Leaders Forum at UN Geneva, hosted by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), before heading to the G7 Summit in Italy that starts this Thursday. He spoke to the UN Geneva press corps on the unequal distribution of wealth in the global economy, increased trade barriers, and the dismal clean energy investments that needs a clear commitment from the G7 to close the financing gap for climate adaptation.
