UNICEF: Important Strides for Child Protection in Partnership with the European Union
Interview with Philippe Cori UNICEF's Deputy Director for Europe and Central Asia
UNICEF is spearheading a partnership with the European Union, and the Commission for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, for the program called Child Guarantee, to ensure the basic needs of children in the EU are met, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
UNICEF has been asked to pilot the programs and share best practices in seven EU countries: Bulgaria, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Croatia, Greece and Italy.
The UN Brief interviewed Philippe Cori, Deputy Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at UNICEF, to discuss the the roll-out of the program, and the knowledge base that UNICEF brings to the table thanks to its field experience accelerating recovery and bringing schools back, in post-conflict zones and after natural disasters.
