WHO Marks Universal Health Coverage Day, WTO Ministerial Statements on Environment and Trade, ITU Awards Prize for Innovation in IoT and 5G, WMO and ITU Deliver Webinar on Satellites, +Cyberspace
The Tenth Global Conference on Health Promotion for Well-being, Equity and Sustainable Development, started today 13 and goes to15 December 2021, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) with the support of the United Arab Emirates, United Nations agencies and partners.
This is the first time that WHO addresses well-being as the theme of a major conference.

Participants at the Conference will discuss the contributions that health promotion can make to people’s and societies’ well-being. They will address these contributions in the context of key components of well-being. Discussions will be organized on the broad areas of people, the planet and prosperity. The Conference will offer an opportunity to present successful country examples of health promotion achieved by good governance for health and well-being. It will also show how such a shift contributes to mitigating public health challenges and paves the way to building forward with health promotion approaches.
Healthcare is an investment, not a cost.
The WHO also celebrated Universal Health Coverage Day on 12 December.

This Webinar is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), together with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Mandat International. This event is part of a series on Digital Transformation for Cities and Communities.
The webinar will explore how the Internet of Things (IoT) can be leveraged for satellite observation, while examining interoperability of data from different sources and its applications for Earth observation.

Trade ministers will make statements on Trade and Environmental Sustainability; Plastic Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade; and Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform on 15 December, in a virtual event. The event opens with remarks from WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
This will be followed by a segment with statements from stakeholders, including heads of various intergovernmental organizations as well as NGOs and business organisations.
WTO Deputy Director-General Jean-Marie Paugam will provide closing remarks.
