Climate Change Threatens Health of 70% of Global Workforce
About 70% of the world's workers face health hazards linked to climate change, according to a new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The report highlights the growing health hazards workers face due to rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and environmental pollution.
The report estimates that over 2.4 billion workers, or roughly 70.9% of the global workforce, are exposed to excessive heat during their work. This number has risen steadily since 2000. The consequences of heat stress are severe, with the ILO estimating nearly 19,000 annual deaths and …
