Interview with DDB’s Alexis Benbehe and Pierre Mathonat on the Cookie Factory
After UNESCO adopted the draft text on ethical guardrails for uses of Artificial Intelligence, the UN specialised agency for Education, Culture and Science had the advertising company DDB launch the Cookie Factory, a browser extension and gamification tool that lets you change the way you are tracked by advertisers.
The cookies assigned to you will be those you make up, choosing from the options they offer. The advertising campaign was commissioned by UNESCO to make citizens and consumers understand the double edged sword that AI in advertising is.
A playful way of understanding how those insidious advertising cookies work.
The campaign serves to alert the general public on the uses of adtech that, it turns out, are quite invasive and do not respect the fundamental right to privacy of citizens on the Internet.
