WTO: Trade and Environment Week 17 to 21 October
Trade and Environment Week 2022 will discuss sustainable solutions to the climate crisis through multilateral trade and international cooperation and across various policy areas. On the agenda also how to connect with international partners to enhance transnational collaboration.
A high-level panel titled “Multilateral Trade and Environment Cooperation: Answering Crisis and Furthering Resilience” will kick off the week, with WTO’s Deputy Director-General Jean-Marie Paugam; Ivonne Higuero, Secretary-General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora; Rolph Payet, Executive Secretary of the Basel, Rotterdam, Stockholm Conventions; David Cooper, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity; Sonja Leighton-Kone, Acting Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, moderated by Aik Hoe Lim, Director, WTO Trade and Environment Division.
