Global Stats for the Week Ending on 17th of January
According to the last weekly epidemiological update by the World Health Organisation, the week ending on the 17th of January registered 4.7 million new cases of COVID-19 worldwide, a decline of 6% from the previous week.
But three countries reported increases in the number of cases:
Brazil (379 784 cases, a 21% increase)
Russian Federation (166 255 cases, 1% increase)
France (125 279 cases, a 2% increase).
The number of new deaths climbed to a record high at 93.000, a 9% increase from the previous week.
